Truck Driver Training

Located near Akron, Ohio, in Lake Milton, TDDS offers a variety of truck driver training programs in Ohio with flexible class schedules. As a CDL truck driving school in Ohio, our basic CDL course is designed for the driver with no commercial driving experience. We also have programs available to individuals or companies seeking to upgrade their driving skills.

Our truck driver training consists of three distinct programs: a 5-week residency program, an externship program, and a 6-week program with passenger endorsement.  The 5-week residency program includes orientation sessions and classes in general knowledge of CDL, CDL brake systems, CDL combination vehicles, and CDL air brake systems.  You will also learn about DOT hours of service, DOT logbook requirements, map reading and trip planning, safety regulations of the Federal Motor Carriers Administration, and defensive driving techniques of the National Safety Council.

During your CDL course externship program, you can take an in-depth look at pre-trip inspections, trip planning, cargo handling, map reading, vehicle systems, CDL tankers, CDL hazardous materials, CDL doubles and triples, and tarping and chaining.  Your externship experience can introduce you to company procedures, on- and off-street driving operations, and public and employer relations.

The 6-week program with passenger endorsement provides you with hands-on training in basic, intermediate and advanced road driving and maneuvers on the TDDS campus and on public roadways.

As a student in our truck driver school, you can benefit from our experienced faculty and staff, job placement assistance, and financial aid if you qualify.  Prepare to earn your commercial driver's license with TDDS!  Learn more about our Class A and Class B CDL training in Ohio today!
